A Little About Me
Hi, I’m Joni Burger (pronounced JO-NEE), the photographer behind Hello Pretty Pictures!
I’ve been taking photographs for more than 10 years, and what I love most is capturing the little details, genuine connections and special moments that make every family unique. Based in Eldoraigne, Centurion, I specialise in newborn photography, cake smash photoshoots, studio portraits and family photography.
For me, photography is about so much more than taking a beautiful picture. It’s about preserving the feelings, memories and magic of a moment so that, years from now, you can look back at your photographs and experience those special memories all over again.
My Photography Journey
My background is a little different! Although I studied Interior Design, I’m also a qualified Occupational Therapist. These two fields have shaped my creative outlook and taught me to appreciate the little details that make each person and family unique.
Alongside photography, I share another passion with my friend and business partner through Olke Bolke, our brand of occupational therapy games and toys. This allows me to combine my interest in creativity, childhood development and meaningful play in a completely different way.
Outside of work, family is a big part of my life. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for more than 18 years, and together we have the cutest little blondie, Avery, who occasionally makes an appearance on my social media feeds!
Capturing Newborns, Families and Special Moments
Of all the photography I do, newborn photography is my absolute favourite! There’s something incredibly special about those first few days with a new baby, when every tiny finger, sleepy expression and gentle cuddle feels precious.
That’s why I love creating photographs that allow parents to hold onto these fleeting moments long after their little ones have grown. Whether we’re capturing a newborn’s first portraits, celebrating a first birthday with a cake smash photoshoot or bringing a creative studio concept to life, my aim is always to make the experience personal and enjoyable.
Furthermore, every family has its own story to tell. By taking the time to understand your ideas and preferences, I can create photographs that reflect your personality, celebrate your milestones and preserve the connections that matter most.

Of course, there’s more to me than photography! Here are a few random facts to help you get to know the person behind the camera.

Kitchen skills? Let’s just say eggs are my speciality! For years, I didn’t even have an oven, so cooking has never been my strongest talent.

DIY enthusiast: Fortunately, I make up for my kitchen skills with a pretty good knowledge of power tools. In fact, flipping houses is still on my dream list!

Music lover: Although I have absolutely no rhythm and a terrible singing voice, I do love the ’80s. Thankfully, neither of these shortcomings gets in the way of taking photographs!

Patience is my superpower: Especially when it comes to little ones. Every baby and child is different, so I believe in slowing down, allowing time for the unexpected and letting each moment unfold naturally.
Ultimately, I think it’s these little quirks that make life interesting. After all, the best memories often come from the moments we never planned!
